What Claude Motion is
Claude Motion is a new Claude feature that makes short animated videos from a prompt. You describe what you want, Claude builds the animation, and it plays like a short video. Anthropic launched it on October 8, 2026.
It doesn't use a video generation model. Claude writes the animation as code that moves your text, charts, shapes and images around. That means no fake footage and no AI-generated people, and it also means you can change any word, number or timing after it's made.
When it looks right, you download it as an MP4.

Who can use it
Motion is in beta on Claude Team and Enterprise plans. It isn't on Free, Pro or Max yet.
On Enterprise it's off by default. An admin turns it on in Organization settings > Artifacts.
Make your first one
- Open Claude and type
/motionin the message box, then pick Motion. - Paste the prompt below with your details filled in.
- Watch the preview. Change anything in the editor, or just tell Claude what to fix ("make the headline bigger", "slow down the last scene").
- Download it as an MP4.
Make a 20 second animated explainer of what my [type of business] does and why [who you serve] in [your city] should book us this month. Use [your brand colors], put our name and phone number on the last screen, and keep every line short enough to read on a phone.
This is the prompt from the reel, with the pressure washing business swapped for blanks.
Ideas that work for a small business
- A 20 second "what we do" video for your Google Business Profile or website.
- A before and after explainer with your real numbers, like jobs done or reviews.
- A price comparison of your packages for a sales call or a post.
- A quick how-it-works walkthrough for new customers.
Upload your logo and real photos in the chat so Claude animates those instead of shapes.
Take it further
You can open a Motion video in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI or Runway and keep editing there. Anthropic says Canva and Captions are coming soon.
If you're not on Team or Enterprise
Motion needs a Team or Enterprise seat for now, so it isn't free. If you already pay someone every month to make simple explainer videos, compare that bill to a Team seat on Claude's pricing page before you switch.
