These are the links and setup notes from my dots post. I would start with a small lead follow-up task and review what it produces before giving it more responsibility.
Check access first
OpenAI's getting-started guide covers access, connected apps, and controls. Dots are rolling out gradually. Pro access excludes the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK. Business Premium supports ChatGPT's supported regions; Enterprise access needs an administrator to enable the beta.
Create a dot in the ChatGPT desktop app or desktop web. Mobile creation is not available. If your account has not received access, use a regular chat to test the prompt below while you wait.

How I'd set up a first task
- Choose one job: find customer inquiries that still need a reply.
- Follow the onboarding prompts. Connect only the app needed for that job and review its permissions.
- Give the dot your business hours, what you sell, and the details it must never guess.
- Set its rules to ask before sending messages or changing records. Start with drafts for your review.
- Try it with a sample inquiry. Check the proposed reply, the customer details, and the next step.
Help me spot customer inquiries that still need a reply and prepare drafts for me to review. Start by asking which inbox or CRM to use, which messages count as customer inquiries, and how long I normally wait before following up. Ask for my business hours, services, and booking link. Use only the information I provide or the sources I authorize. Show the source message beside each draft. Flag missing details. Do not send anything, offer a discount, book a meeting, or change a record without my approval. For the first test, work on one sample inquiry. Tell me what you found, what you drafted, and what I need to decide.
Check it before making it recurring
Include a message that has already been answered and one that has no usable contact information. The dot should leave the answered inquiry alone and flag the missing details. Then check a normal inquiry against the reply you would write yourself.
Once the pilot works, decide how often it should check and what deserves an update. You can review scheduled tasks in the dot's profile. Keep the approval rule for outgoing messages while you learn how it behaves.
This is my suggested pilot, not a report of a production setup I've tested. A dot can make mistakes, so check customer-facing work before sending it.
