This is the setup from my Google Maps reel. The scraper is google-maps-scraper, a free open-source tool on GitHub. It comes with a skill for Claude Code, so you ask for leads in plain English and Claude runs the search on your own computer. You don't pay for a scraper or a monthly plan.
Step 1: Install Docker and Node
The scraper runs inside Docker, and the skill installs with Node.
- Download Docker Desktop, install it and open it. Leave it running whenever you scrape.
- Install the LTS version of Node.js.

Step 2: Add the scraper skill to Claude Code
Open your terminal and run:
npx skills add gosom/google-maps-scraper
Step 3: Ask Claude for your leads
Open Claude Code and type what you want. Swap in your own business type and city:
Find [med spas] in [Austin, TX]. For each one I want the business name, phone number, website, address and email. Save it as a CSV on my desktop.
Claude runs a small test search first, then the full search in the background. Expect it to take a few minutes. Pulling emails adds time because the scraper visits every business's website.
If Claude asks about proxies, you can continue without one for a single city. The proxy companies it lists are paid sponsors of the project.
Step 4: Add Instagram and Facebook
The scraper finds emails but not social accounts. Claude can fill those in from each business's website:
Open the CSV you just made. For each business with a website, visit the site and find its Instagram and Facebook links. Add them as two new columns called "instagram" and "facebook". Leave the cell blank if the site doesn't link one. Save it as a new CSV.
Now you have one sheet you can email, call or DM from.
Before you reach out
- Cold email in the US falls under CAN-SPAM. Use your real name and business, include a mailing address, and give people an easy way to opt out. The FTC guide covers the rest.
- Don't text numbers from this list. Marketing texts need the person's permission first.
- The project asks you to scrape responsibly, since scraping can go against a site's terms. Keep your searches to the cities and business types you'll actually contact.
